Tag, whoever wants to do it! This meme from WriterChick was fun to do (although it took a bit longer than I’d anticipated). Using the letters of the alphabet as inspiration, you need to come up with random facts about yourself. Let me know if you decide to do it, too.

Church and brownies
Posted in Day-to-Day on October 30, 2007 | 2 Comments »
Okay, this is just plain getting old. We missed church AGAIN this week because we’re sick. I’ll spare you the gory details, but it’s a bad one running through the entire household. Lousy time for the dishwasher to break down. But then again, who’s really eating much at our house right now besides bananas, applesauce, [...]

Dishwasher :-(
Posted in Day-to-Day on October 28, 2007 | 7 Comments »
The part I ordered from RepairClinic.com came the other day and I installed it as directed. But unfortunately the dishwasher is leaking even more now than it was before.
According to the advice on the appliance repair website, if the part I bought didn’t fix the problem, then it meant the dishwasher was past [...]
Quick health update after my doctor appointment this week
Posted in Day-to-Day on October 25, 2007 | 1 Comment »
Based upon my blood tests, the doctor could tell that my kidneys are still functioning fine, so that’s such a relief. No kidney failure in my near future.
But he still doesn’t know for sure that there’s not an underlying condition that caused this latest serious kidney infection, so I’m scheduled for a bunch of x-rays and probably [...]

I posted this in the comment section after people had recommended the appliance repair website, but then I realized that people might not see my response buried in amongst all the other comments. So here’s a repeat for everyone’s benefit:
I went to the http://www.RepairClinic.com website and with the help of my son, think I might [...]
Recipe: Pumpkin Praline Pie
Posted in Autumn, Day-to-Day, Thanksgiving, cooking, pie, pumpkin, recipes on October 21, 2007 | 11 Comments »
I found this recipe in a Better Homes holiday baking magazine I’d gotten last year. I never did make anything from it, but saved it in case I wanted something in the future. I think the future is “now” and I’m going to make this pie! Yummmmmmmmm!

Pumpkin Praline Pie
12-oz cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tsp [...]
Searching for … ?

For the longest time, the most common search term that helped people arrive at this blog was “Joy vs happiness.” Who’d of thought there’d be people searching regularly for that phrase. But they did (and they still do to a certain extent).
But over the past couple of months, things have morphed a bit. Now you’ll probably never guess [...]
Quick update …
Posted in Day-to-Day on October 18, 2007 | 1 Comment »
The doctor’s office forgot to tell me that I had to be fasting for the blood tests they need to run, so we had to reschedule everything. Blood draw tomorrow before breakfast and follow-up appointment on Tuesday in the mid-afternoon. Continued prayers apreciated.

The promised recipe: Ratatouille
Posted in Day-to-Day, cooking, ratatouille, recipes on October 17, 2007 | 5 Comments »
Much to my surprise, EVERYONE liked it, even my pickiest eater (although she did pick out the onions and peppers as I suspected she would). But the flavor was rated “Yummy!” by everyone.

(How we pronounce Ratatouille around our house in our rather pitiful Americanized English: “rat–uh–two–ee” … it’s a bit different in French, however.)
Ratatouille
Ingredients:
1/2 cup olive [...]
